His images throughout the book are stunningly alive with light.” Rick Darke (American Gardener review of American Meadow Garden)

“Award-winning expert Saxon Holt shares the mental and physical processes he uses to create riveting images in which every element is carefully considered and contributes to the story.”  Evelyn Hadden – Garden Rant.

“I’ve avidly followed his work throughout the years and attended one of his workshops in San Francisco where I learned so much in a short amount of time. I wish I lived closer so I could attend one of his other sessions. However, through PhotoBotanic, I can now participate in online lessons and apply his tips and knowledge to my own photography. Isn’t the Internet grand?”

– Dee Nash—Professional Writer and Blogger at Red Dirt Ramblings

“Some of my most cherished garden books are illustrated with Saxon Holt’s luscious and distinctive photographs. If you’re a follower of the popular blog Gardening Gone Wild, you’re already familiar with his down-to-earth, accessible teaching style. The Learning Center offers a unique opportunity to learn photography techniques from the master himself!”  – Susan Morrison – Garden Designer, editor APLD magazine “The Designer”

What’s it About ?

me-by-©d.perryHi – I am Saxon Holt and this is a brand new world of publishing, where I get to do exactly what I want to do.  I have been photographing gardens for books, magazines, and designers for 35 years, but now I can publish my own projects.  These are exciting times to be a photographer, photojournalist, an artist.

You can read more about me on the About page, but the Learning Center is the core content of PhotoBotanic. Here I am writing new books and explore new techniques.  I teach garden photography, learn new techniques of digital art, create new portfolios, promote sustainable gardening practices, and publish multiple e-books every year.

I hope you like the way I see and will follow along.  Most of the Learning Center is free to members.  In the free, Plants Celebrated section, I write bi-monthly on my new work and develop new e-books.  I am making new portfolios of prints while explaining my digital techniques.  I explore light.  I push to re-define a garden aesthetic to support sustainability.  I let you know where to find gardens to photograph yourself.

There is a Premium membership in the Learning Center where I teach garden photography.  Members are “dripped” new lessons every two weeks and interact with comments.  The same lessons in the Garden Photography Workshop become the eBooks (see below).  You may have already discovered the individual lessons are available as iBooks here in the store. If you are impatient with the pace of Premium membership, by all means buy the books.  Premium members do earn a free copy of each eBook once the course is completed, and have access to the Library of extra lessons found in the Workshop.

Let PhotoBotanic’s Learning Center become your own living book of garden photography. Explore tags and your own interests through deep content and find what most excites you. Comment, make some noise, let me know what you like….

Gardens are the best way to celebrate plants.  I am finding new ways all the time.  I appreciate your support.
