It’s summertime. Wouldn’t you rather be at the Lake ?
There are lots of menial tasks involved with work, anyone’s work; but there are also times of satisfaction and joy. My work recently brought me to Lakeville, Connecticut to photograph the work of Larry Weiner, a meadow maker and garden designer. This is work ?
Flowering perennial meadows surround the home and as moved toward the lake, I noticed the chairs – and immediately knew there was a photo to be had.
In this case, getting close to the chairs meant using telephoto lens. I wanted to be sure to keep the context of flowers > chairs > lake. While the wide view is great to establish the setting, and is certainly part of the story (more later) the payoff shot distills the story.
I “worked the scene” a bit, looking for photos, and realized I needed to get over the top of the flowers just enough to see the chairs more clearly.
But getting to this photo was not work. It’s summertime. I’m at the Lake.
