I fell in love with meadow gardens photographing my Grasses book and five year later did The American Meadow Garden.  I am still searching for meadows, native meadows.

Inspiration for gardens come from nature and all the ones in the meadow book were inspired by these ‘grass ecologies’ as my co-author John Greenlee likes to say.

I am in the High Sierra mountains of California this week, late summer being the best time to find them. Now in the midst of a four year drought in California, I want to see how our mountain meadows are holding up.
